Shinden Fudo Ryu is a Japanese school of Dakentaijutsu and Jutaijutsu, whose name is often translated as "divine transmission of immovability". It's known for natural postures and for using nature as an ally.
Training
Its Dakentaijutsu uses throws, strikes, locks and kicks in a fairly direct way, using the body as a striking weapon. There are no formal stances: most techniques start from the natural postures of Shizen and Fudoza, and the school says the kamae are held in your heart. Techniques often look very casual. The school also teaches hojojutsu, spear, war axe, war hammer and naginata.
History
Its founder and first head was Izumo Kanja Yoshiteru, while the second, Minamoto Hachiman Tamenari, is credited as the official founder. Toda Shinryuken Masamitsu, the 24th head, was a Samurai and sword instructor to the Tokugawa Shogunate, and the grandfather of Takamatsu Sensei.
